In a game of cricket, Cricket ball plays an important role and choosing a perfect cricket ball is really an important task, let it be for the professional matches or for the practice sessions. so here is the guide, which will help you in selecting the perfect cricket ball according to your needs.

While Choosing a Cricket ball following factors should be kept in mind:-

1. Material and Manufacturing:-  A Cricket ball is made with a core of cork, which is layered with tightly wound string, and covered by a leather case with a slightly raised sewn seam. In a top-quality ball suitable for the highest levels of competition, the covering is constructed of four pieces of leather shaped similar to the peel of a quartered orange, but one hemisphere is rotated by 90 degrees with respect to the other. The "equator" of the ball is stitched with string to form the ball's prominent seam, with six rows of stitches. The remaining two joins between the leather pieces are stitched internally forming the quarter seam.
   Now while choosing, if the seam of the ball is sharp, it will swing more. However, if the seam, starts to fade out, the ball will have a deviation and will spin.
   
   
2. Size and Weight:-  Cricket ball comes in different sizes and weight for eg :-  For  Men, and boys 13 and over, the circumference  of the cricket ball is about 8.81 to 9 in (224 to 229 mm) and weight is about 5.5 to 5.75 oz (156 to 163 g), whereas for  Women, and girls 13 and over the circumference  of the cricket ball is about 8.25 to 8.88 in (210 to 226 mm) and weight is about 4.94 to 5.31 oz (140 to 151 g).  For Children under 13, the circumference of the ball is about 8.06 to 8.69 in (205 to 221 mm) having weight about 4.69 to 5.06 oz (133 to 143 g).
   
   
3.  Color: Cricket balls are further categorized into different colors White, red and Pink. Match cricket balls have always traditionally been red and are used for almost all forms of the game. White color balls are used in day/night matches, as they are more visible in floodlights. Due to the fact, white balls getting dirty during the game, pink color balls are introduced, but as for now, only Australia has used them in a number of domestic matches they have still not been embraced by the wider cricketing community.
   
   
4. Training Balls: Cricket balls are further categorized in training balls  :
   - "Air" cricket balls made of soft synthetic materials offer a similar bounce to a cricket ball but with a lighter weight and are therefore much more child-friendly: ideal for building up confidence and skills without the feature of getting hurt.
   -  Multi-material cricket balls that appear half cricket ball/half tennis ball are specifically designed to develop an understanding and control of swing bowling.
   -  Multi-colored cricket balls (where each hemisphere is a different color) made from both synthetics and traditional leather are designed to help both bowlers and batsmen develop their skills as the contrasting colors make it easier to recognize what the cricket ball is doing in the air.
